A Method for 3D Breast Cancer Imaging using Microwave Holography
نویسنده
چکیده
This work describes a technique which has been developed for the detection and imaging of breast cancer tumours. It describes how 3D images can be reconstructed from 2D scalar intensity patterns, or holograms. An outline of the background theory in described followed by experimental results on paraffin wax breast phantoms Results demonstrate that this technique is capable of determining the location and extent of the simulated tumours within the breast phantom.

Holographic microwave imaging for medical applications
This paper presents a new 2D holographic microwave imaging array (HMIA) technique for medical imaging applications. The HMIA technique has been applied to early stage breast cancer detection and brain stroke detection. Computer models are developed to demonstrate the feasibility of detecting and localizing small brain strokes within a 2D numerical head model and breast tumours within a 3D numer...

متن کاملComputational Methods for Microwave Medical Imaging
Medical imaging methods have become increasingly important in diagnosing diseases and assisting therapeutic treatment. In particular, early detection of breast cancer is considered as a critical factor in reducing the mortality rate of women. Within the various alternative breast imaging modalities being investigated to improve breast cancer detection, microwave imaging is attractive due to the...
متن کاملA Miniaturized CPW-Fed Tapered Slot Antenna in Lossy Environment for UWB Application in Breast Cancer Detection
In this paper, a miniaturized coplanar waveguide fed (CPW-fed) tapered slot antenna (TSA) is introduced for breast cancer detection. Here, a modified CPW to slot-line transition structure with an air-bridge is employed to broaden the transition bandwidth and increase the radiation efficiency. Through these applied modifications, negative features of the original TSA (limitation of transition) a...
متن کاملUsing X-Ray Mammograms to Assist in Microwave Breast Image Interpretation
Current clinical breast imaging modalities include ultrasound, magnetic resonance (MR) imaging, and the ubiquitous X-ray mammography. Microwave imaging, which takes advantage of differing electromagnetic properties to obtain image contrast, shows potential as a complementary imaging technique. As an emerging modality, interpretation of 3D microwave images poses a significant challenge. MR image...
